Heaven Knotted to Earth

This is a 3D-section of the four dimensional cubic parameter space (the iteration formula is z -> z^3 - 3a^2 z + b), the axis a_imag pointing into the fourth dimension, the 3D-slice is performed at a_imag = 0.6. The red set is a part of M+, the blue set of M-. The motive is somewhat rotated.

The image is rendered by the first 3D module for Ultra Fractal written summer 1999 by my very dear friend Stig, Greenseng here on DA [link] This very first module miss some fine structures, but gives the structures a very beautiful glance. If you click [link] you may see the same motive drawn with the fast ray tracing formula, and if you click [link] you will see only M- drawn. Resized from 4800x3600 using PhotoShop.
