This is exactly the same motive as my earlier deviation Compass d3, but with another gradient and a refined coloring method, Continuos Potential Method (CPM) instead of just Level Set Method (LSM). It may be very funny for my dear reader to play around with the exponent in this formula :thumbsup:

No filters or postprocessing except anti-aliasing (from 6400 x 4800).

Software: Ultra Fractal.
Color routine: Continuos Potential Method (CPM).
Formula: Compasses in the ik3-module written by me :blushes: It can be downloaded from here

I love this one. Not only because of it's design, also because the ways you can manipulate this one.
Try z=@fnc(z) AFTER the formula
would be:
.....
z=z^d-d*a^(d-1)*z
z=@fnc1(z)
.....

Especially when you use sqr, sqrt, log or recip as function here, it will give interesting patterns and design.
Some of them even give great results with a (very) value of the exponent.

Exactly :wow: In my journal [link] I have a long list with links to deviations produced with the compass formula :D Or laternatively with the formula "Extended Compasses" where I have added a "b", i e z -> z^d-d*a^(d-1)*z + b there I we have a four dimensional parameter space of (a, b). This formula allows you to investigate ALL the 16 perpendicular system of slices :wow:
