This is yet another deep in-zoom the earlier deviation The Dark Secret of the Cave. That is it’s a magnification in a 2D-slice of the four dimensional cubic parameter space using the standard parameterizing z -> z^3 - 3a^2 z + b, critical points z = +a (making the set M+) and z = -a (making the set M-).

This section is entirely inside the set M+, so it’s only drawn with respect to M-. That means that all the entirely black components belong to Cubic Connectedness Locus (CCL), the full analogy to the Mandelbrot set for Cubic polynomials.
