This is a somewhat old motive from the Compass Formula z -> z^d - da^(d-1) z where the exponent “d” is put to “i” (0 + i). With this weird exponent, there would hardly be any fractal. Never less I’ve zoomed into a Mandy. When I converted it to the “Extended Compasses”, z -> z^d - da^(d-1) z + b (b = 0), the whole of the motive became entirely dark until I activated the “Diff Bailout”. That made the whole difference and the motive came up That made me very surprised because the spots outside the mandys normally are those parameter spots for which the critical orbit tends to infinity. In this motive apparently ALL spots have bounded orbits. In fact here the mandy, as well as some other black areas are those spots which are NOT 1-periodic This is visualized because Diff Bailout colors the spots according to the number of iterations required for the critical orbit to reach a fixpoint. The scattered black areas are 2-periodic, and the cardeoid of the mandy have period 28. Another thing is: Most inside filters (including orbit traps) ALSO bring out this mandy So I ought not to despise filter routine so very much

Thanks to “Diff-Bailouts” no inside filters are used. Without either of them,
the image would be entirely black
